| Wesley Snipes vs. Joe Rogan News of a possible UFC brawl between Wesley Snipes and Joe Rogan came to light a couple of weeks ago, proposed to take place in the Octagon sometime in 2006. Word is they’re just waiting for Wesley Snipes to accept, Rogan is said to be onboard and ready to go. I don’t know if this fight will happen, I kind of doubt it, but we can only hope. I’ve always believed Wesley Snipes to be a serious martial artist and I still believe he is, but let’s face it, a lot of other factors go into the decision making process of a star/celebrity when presented with this type of scenario. Agents, publicist, studio heads don’t really want to see their cash cow getting pummeled in a very public way fearing it would hurt their bank accounts; they use what influence they have to not see that happen. What I offer is another point of view. There’s really no way to lose. All that one needs to do is, go into the fight and not look like a rank amateur. If a star goes into battle and looks scared or like they have no business in the ring, yes, they will be clowned un-mercilessly. I believe anyone that steps in the Octagon is worthy of the highest respect. Winning or losing is really inconsequential. Losing isn’t that bad, it gives a person incentive and opportunity to improve. Being afraid to lose is no way to win. From the film King of the Kick Boxers The tea master had to face the warrior in a fight to the death the next day. He went to a master swordsman for help. The swordsman told him, there was nothing he could teach him that would enable him win against the warrior. Then he asked him to make tea for him. While the tea master prepared the tea, he was completely concentrated, nothing else intruded, nothing else existed. When the tea was done the swordsman smiled. He said tomorrow face the warrior sword in hand with the same attitude, your mind empty, ready to face death. When the warrior saw that the tea master was completely ready to die, he turned and ran away. A warrior who clings to life will surely die. He who embraces death will survive. This whole thing made me think of other matches I might like to see. Chuck Zito vs. Jean Claude Van Damme These two had a pretty public blow up a few years back that ended badly for Van Damme. It’s said Van Damme did a Rip Van Winkle after one powerful well placed punch. He ended up on the floor and later on a tee shirt Chuck Zito wears called ‘The Van Damminator.’ If Van Damme believes he got hit before he was ready, this would be a chance for him to get payback in front of the world. I don’t think he’s pulling in the big bucks anymore, so this would offer a chance to make money and to reclaim his rep. Zito might be down for this, he might even welcome a chance to beat the crap of Van Damme again. The only thing he really has to lose is his tee shirt. Jamie Foxx vs. LL Cool J The first fight took place on the movie set of Any Given Sunday, again, it’s said Jamie Foxx believes he was stole on, before he knew what was happening. Won’t have that problem on Pay-Per-View. However, this one is just a pipe dream; I don’t think the UFC could float enough money out there to make this happen. |
