| The Dynamic Art of Breaking By Java Bomani One of the most intriguing aspects of the martial arts, especially from people looking in from outside of the community, is the Art of Breaking. How much breaking Wood, Ice, Baseball Bats have to do with self defense is debatable and the subject of much deliberation. Whatever side of the debate you fall on, it’s hard to deny that it’ s fun to watch. I’ve never been one for doing Kata; I’d much rather spend the time perfecting my movement, entries, hitting the bag or sparring than doing what amounts to a traditional dance (just my opinion). Now that I said that, I really like watching other people do Kata’s and breaking in competition. Some of the things we see in an average martial arts tournament is absolutely amazing. No Hold Barred Fighting will never have the excitement of a decent neighborhood martial arts tournament. This month we decided to focus on the Art of Breaking. If you decide you want to try breaking, I hope you find some of the information you seek here. |
