| Artist Spotlight: Wu-Tang Clan by Shadowgod Damn I remember first hearing this group when I was like in 8th grade. I was a little late cause I saw the M.E.T.H.O.D. Man video first instead of Proteck Ya Neck. I was like these guys can’t be serious. Then I actually got a chance to hear them both clearly. You know sit down and listen to them and Damn!!! I felt like Hip Hop was serious at the time. Nas dropped, so did Redman and Gangstar but Wu had something totally different in the game. I know most of you watched the old kung fu flicks so that’s where the karma and magic started with me. It wasn’t until high school that they dropped the 2nd album and when Wu started to disappear. This article is not a fan wishing to talk about the good old days. This article is to appeal to those who have the same feelings as I do about this group. The game needs a Wu-tang clan. No groups in the game garnish the mystery and karma that Wu once brought to the game. How many power groups can you acknowledge that had lyrics, knowledge, dance tracks, and over all grimey street tracks all over an album. Lately I won’t say Hip Hop is dying cause its not there are still people that bang the art for the sake of doing it. Soon we are supposed to be seeing a lot of meaningful artist step down. Jay-Z said his time has come whether you believe him or not. DMX says he is gone and now we hear talk that Nas will be leaving the game as well. With the farewell Wu album in the works I can only hope that classic material comes from the clan and not a rushed piece of shit album like so many other people have put out. Just think 2004-2005 Classic Wu with all 9 generals back taking the game by the horns and winning back the fans and respect that they lost. That is a happy ending to a story that is probably long forgotten in our culture. We are used to seeing are peers die from gun fire or more recently enough spend countless years behind bars that kills their buzz and deafens there sound. True the game and life are not fair but we all fight to maintain our spots and Besides Roc-a-Fella records no one on the east has help a dominating spot yet. I hope this gets to the eyes of the Clan and they realize the need the game has for them. Remember the promise of the swarm, and the flood. Well fellas get off your asses and high horses cause the game is dry. Only nourishment will cure the thirst we have for good music and we hope before you sloe the door on your careers you bring it to us. |
